Let the evening be’Gin’
- Published on 15 October, 2022
Did you know that at Glennie’s we have a wide range of different types of gins?
Gin and tonic drinks are still often seen as a ‘separate’ drink that has a bitter taste. Nowadays, more and more people find gin and tonic a tasty drink. How come?
Matthew Hartings is a chemistry professor at American University. He says that gin and tonic taste very different on their own. However, these two drinks do have the same molecules. Because they have the same molecules, the drinks are ‘attracted’ to each other and can be mixed well with each other. By mixing these flavors together, a taste is released that did not exist before the mixing process.
When it comes to tonic, you can experiment a lot. There are many other flavors besides the standard tonic. Both gin and tonic can be divided into four different categories: sweet, spicy, floral and citrus.
Garnishing the gin and tonic is partly for decoration and partly for taste. It is important to find the right balance between dressing the drink and making it tasteful. You can use different elements such as: orange, lemon, star anise, thyme, rosemary, pepper, berries or cucumber.
At Glennie’s we have a wide range of different types of gins such as: Tanqueray, Bombay Sapphir, Beafeeter 24, Z44 Gin, Bobby’s, Brockmanns, Saffron and so on.
Come and enjoy our cozy bar while enjoying delicious snacks and the best Gin Tonics. Would you like to see which Gins we have on the menu? Then take a look at our Gin menu here.
