Dutch chef Marc van Loo runs Glennie’s Restaurant in Westendorf, Austria, together with his wife Nicole. Since November 1, 2021, Marc and Nicole have started working at the second Glennie’s location in Westendorf.
“Because we know Arthur and Esther (who have been working at Glennie’s in Niederau since 2016) from Doetinchem, we have become enthusiastic in recent years about working and living in beautiful Austria. In addition, we have certainly become very enthusiastic about the concept of Glennie’s.
In 2021 Marc and I, Nicole, decided together that we were ready for a new challenge. The beautiful apartment complex Residenz Illyrica Tirol was in the final phase at that time. We were told by Arthur and Esther that they were still urgently looking for staff at Glennie’s Westendorf. In the summer we approached the owner Paul for a conversation. We were and still are very happy that this opportunity came our way in Westendorf!
In October 2021 we (together with our English Cocker Spaniel “Pip”) moved from Doetinchem to Brixen im Thale, where we have found our way here. Glennie’s Westendorf has now been open for a year and we are still very enthusiastic. We want to welcome and spoil everyone, just like Arthur and Esther do at Glennie’s in Niederau!”.
Marc started cooking at the age of 15 when he began his culinary training. He completed it at the age of 19 and has since worked in various positions and different types of kitchens.
Marc: “Since Nicole and I moved to Brixen im Thale, Austria, we feel incredibly at home here in beautiful Austria. We have both truly become part of the Glennie’s concept and we are doing our utmost to make Glennie’s Westendorf a great success.”
After obtaining her Hospitality Management diploma, Nicole has always worked in the hospitality industry, particularly in various reception roles. For the past 9 years, she has been involved in a completely different job, working as a sales representative at an international transport company. During her time as a sales representative, she missed the interaction with guests tremendously.
Nicole: “We have been living in Austria since October 2021. Marc and I have found our place in beautiful Austria. I really enjoy working at Glennie’s. As Marc mentioned, we are doing our utmost to make Glennie’s Westendorf a huge success, just like Arthur and Esther did at Glennie’s in Niederau.”
